Q. What equipment does a player need?
Each player will receive a helmet, set of shoulder pads, game jersey and pants, practice jersey and pants, belt, girdle, set of pads (thigh, hip, tail and knee) and a mouth piece. These items remain property of CVYFA and need to be returned at the end of the season (no mouth piece).
We recommend players obtain the following:
-
Cleats (no screw-in cleats permitted)
-
Athletic supporter and cup
-
Socks
-
Gloves or other pads as needed
Q. Do I need to fundraise and volunteer?
The football association requires tens of thousands of dollars each year to operate. The money goes toward things such as: equipment, field expenses, insurance, referees, ambulance services, trophies, banquet and coach background checks. We try and have a balanced approach to generating money to pay for these items through registration fees and fund raising.
The football association also requires a lot of work to put together teams and coaches and provide the safest environment for football games. Many people are needed to help organize and prepare as well as coach, setup fields, run the chains during games, make the announcements, cleanup after the games and keep equipment organized.
There will be an option to pay an opt-out fee in lieu of fundraising and volunteering.
Q. What is the registration and refund policy?
Registration is held in the spring of each year. We highly recommend you register early to reserve a spot on a team. Late registrations will only be accepted if there is enough space available on a team and if enough equipment is available.
A full refund of the registration fees paid will be granted to any player prior to the beginning of the season. Half the registration fees paid will be refunded to a player who drops out in the first 2 weeks of practice. After that no refunds will be provided.
Returning your football equipment in a timely manner is very important so proper maintenance can be completed for the next football season. At the end of the football season, there will be announced equipment hand-in dates and times. If the equipment is returned during those scheduled times, you will receive a full equipment deposit refund. Equipment returned one week after the scheduled equipment return will receive 1/2 of the equipment deposit. Equipment returned after 2 weeks or more after the scheduled equipment return forfeit their equipment deposit. Any equipment not returned will be subject to criminal prosecution and up to $500 in cost to replace the equipment
Q. What if I have a problem with a coach?
We recommend you direct all questions to the head coach of each football team. This is best done after a practice. You may also contact the athletic director. We strongly recommend not contacting coaches until 24 hours after a game.
